Indian Marriage System

India,Officially Republic of India(Bharath Ghanarajya)..India is considered as the one of the largest democracies in the world.It is the second most populated country in the world after China.India is considered as the one of the oldest cultural country in the world.One of the oldest civilization in the world Indus valley civilization was originated in this sub-continent.India is considered as the country with good diversity.People with different communities,cast,creed are living here.British writer mark twain claimed 'India is equal to Hundred Nations' India has different marriage systems.

Hindu Marriage System(Bharathiya Vivah Rithi);

Hindu marriage system considered as one of the oldest marriage systems in the world.They believe in the four major goals of human life which is known as 'Purusartha'..Dharma(righteousness),Artha(Economic values),Kama(Love desire),Moksha(Liberation spiritual values)
Hindus use the Jhathakam(Janm Kundali)Astrological chart at the time of Birth of the both bride and the groom with the help of the priest.Jhathakam which is drawn based on the planets and the stars at the time of the birth.The maximum points for any match can be 36 and minimum is 18.Any match with points under 18 is not considered as the good match.

Eight Types Of Marriages In Hinduism:

Brahma Marriage:

Brahma marriage is a where a boy is ready to get married after completed his student hood(Brahmacharya).Brahma marriage is considered as the one of the most supreme position in the hindu marriage system.

Daiva marriage:

Daiva marriage is nothing but a girl ties a knot to the priest as a sacrifice.After waiting for a suitable man  for there daughter and they do not find any one.The girls parents looking for a groom in a place where a sacrifice is conducted.

Arsha marriage:

Arsha marriage is where nothing but bride is given in the exchange of some cows.Example is Agasthya married Lopamudra .And more stories we use to read in the mahabharatha.

Prajapatya marriage:

In prajapatya marriage the father search for his 'son in law'.Searching and travelling a lot of places.They use to select from the same ethnic and caste groups.Now a days we usually seen this type of marriages.

Gandharva marriage:

Gandharva marriage is nothing but a 'Love marriage'..The Bride and the groom are tie the knot without their parents permission or Sanction.This is an example of How 'dhusyantha married shakunthala'.

Asura marriage:

Asura marriage is nothing but the Bridegroom gives money to the brides father or a Kinsman.It is nothing but the selling of a girl to the man who desires the particular women.Which makes Undesirable these days.

Rakshasa marriage:

Rakshasa marriage is nothing but where the groom fight's the battle with the bride's family.Later he carries her away and marry her convincing.In modern days it is not considered as the best practice.This is considered as an Offence.

Pisacha marriage:

A man carries away a girl who is sleeping and by making her unconscious,Intoxicant or mentally challenged it is called pisacha marriage.This is condemned in the 'Manusmrithi' as a sinful act.In modern days it is considered as Rape or a molestation.

Hindu marriage system is strictly prohibited the 'Polygamy'.They have a 'Mangalya dharanam' which groom ties around the bride's neck.
